Train and then work at The Lido
From 7th July 2018 to 11th July 2018
Once again The Lido will be holding a course leading to the National Pool Lifeguarding Qualification (NPLQ) early in July.
The qualification is internationally recognised and valid for two years from the date of issue, so qualify this summer and you have the possibility of at least two seasons' work right here in Chippy and/or indoors or even overseas during the colder months.
The course will run from Saturday 7th to Wednesday 11th July 2018 and costs £250 per student. It will comprise physical training in and out of the pool, as well as theoretical classroom work covering pool rescue, first aid, CPR, AED and lifesaving skills, with the assessment taking place on the final day. For more information and to download the booking form, please click here.
Please note that applicants must be over 16 years of age by 11th July 2018. Also it is worth noting that the course can be physically and mentally demanding. All candidates must be able to swim and have good vision and hearing. The basic fitness criteria are as follows:
- Jump/dive into deep water.
- Swim 50 metres in no more than 60 seconds.
- Swim 100 metres continuously on front and back.
- In deep water, tread water for 30 seconds.
- Surface dive to the floor of the pool (deep end – 2.4 metres).
- Climb out of pool unaided and without the use of ladder/steps.
While you have to be over 16 to qualify as a lifeguard, there is no upper age limit! As long as you fulfill the criteria above, we'd love you to join in and The Lido is actively seeking more mature lifeguards available to work during school hours, and shifts are flexible.
All our lifeguards play a vital role in helping to keep the Lido open, so why not join this valuable, and valued, team?
