Four weeks and counting before Kirsty and Nathan attempt their marathon swim

Liz CookeLido News

In only four Sundays’ time, on September 1st, our friends Kirsty and Nathan will be swimming non-stop at The Lido to raise funds and awareness for two great charities- The Lido and The Lewy Body Society (in memory of Kirsty’s mum).

There are two ways to support our dedicated swimmers and we hope you’ll consider doing both! First, visit their fundraising page at https://www.givewheel.com/fundraising/4060/kirsty-and-nathans-marathon-swim/ to show your support and give their swim training a boost, and then buy your tickets to turn up on the day here. Come and cheer them on, or maybe swim some lengths yourself to add to our community marathon target, The public event starts at 9am, but we’ll be swimming and celebrating through to 12.30pm, so you’ve plenty of time to participate. The event is family-friendly and we welcome all ages, but if you’re swimming in the main pool you must be able to swim a length (25m).

The Lido café will be offering a special brunch menu with baps cooked to order and a variety of fillings to mix and match: bacon, sausage, egg, tomato, mushroom, avocado and halloumi cheese. There will also be fruit and pastries on offer, coffees and hot chocolate and a bar for something a little stronger – from a Bloody Mary to a Bucks Fizz.

We hope you’ll join us to raise a glass to the dedication and determination of both our marathon swimmers, and to everyone who makes up our swimming community.
