Only a month to go before our season ends on Sunday 8 September 😥 but it's going to be action-packed.
As well as all the swimming we can squeeze in and our usual programme of activities, we're planning a series of events to end our summer on a high.
Lido Guide book launch
Saturday 31 August
An exclusive fundraising evening event in partnership with Jaffe and Neale Bookshop to celebrate The Lido Guide, the definitive photographic companion to the 130 open-air pools in the UK.
This is your chance to meet the two amazing Lido campaigners and authors, Emma Pusill and Janet Wilkinson, as they talk about the new revised edition. The event starts at 5.30pm, followed by an exclusive evening swim and a chance to drink and chat at the bar afterwards.
The Lido Guide will be on sale all evening, and all profits from the sale of the book will go to The Lido - with huge thanks to our friends Jaffe and Neale Bookshop. Tickets available here.
Sunset Swim
Saturday 7 September
Join us for our late evening swim to celebrate the end of the season, and enjoy the peace and beauty of our lawn and pool in the evening.
Swim into the sunset, enjoy a drink and a bite to eat, and gather round the fire pit as the evening draws in.
There will be hot and cold food and drinks and a bar.
Tickets available online here.
Marathon swim
Sunday 1 September
Our intrepid fundraising swimmers Kirsty and Nathan are training hard - you may have seen them powering up and down the fast lane in your adult swim sessions? On Sunday 1 September they will start their 400-length marathon at 7am and would love you to join them from 9am. You can join the swim and clock up your own lengths to add to a communal marathon total or simply cheer them on from poolside, enjoy a hot brunch and even a Bloody Mary!
This is a family-friendly event and all ages are welcome, but if swimming you must be able to swim a length of the pool unaided (25m). The toddler pool will be open too.
Tickets for this event are on sale now here. You can also support their fundraising challenge in aid of both The Lido and the Lewy Body Society here.
Dog Swim
Sunday 8 September
The Lido’s famous Dog Swim returns to celebrate the final day of the season.
Each canine pays £22.50 and their human family come in free. There will be swimming in both pools, chasing round the lawn, plenty of bowls of water and Bonios, and the café will be open for food and drink for the humans too.
The event takes place on Sunday 8 September from 4pm, and tickets will go on sale at 9am on Sunday 18 August; book online or call the office. These tickets will sell out quickly, so please save the date and set your alarm!
And finally...
Don't forget that we offer a range of classes on our lawn (or under our stretch tent if the weather isn’t kind), including restorative yoga practice on Sundays at 9am with Rhi and Wednesdays at 7.30am with Nikki. Pilates, on Wednesdays at 2pm, is suitable for beginners and those returning to Pilates after a break, and is taught by Alice Becker. Tai Chi on Wednesday evenings teaches this ancient form of exercise and meditation, and entrance includes a swim to complete your evening. If you prefer to exercise in the water, come and join Synchro on Tuesday evenings, a fun and friendly workout to music where you can practise all your best moves.
All our classes are mixed ability, priced at only £10.50 each, and everyone aged 16+ is welcome to give them a try.
We look forward to seeing you very soon.
